The month begins with the intimate charm of the festivities in the picturesque neighborhoods of Las Goteras and La Angostura. Additionally, in the La Atalaya area—a troglodyte settlement of great archaeological value—the "Traída del Barro" is celebrated, an event that pays homage to the ancient pottery trades inherited directly from the aboriginal Canarians.
This is the oldest celebration in the municipality, with origins dating back to the 16th century. On the first Saturday of August, the cobblestone streets dress up for the traditional Romería-Ofrenda. It is an exceptional opportunity to admire the rich historical Canarian attire: fine silk bodices, linen blouses, and hats with delicate silver buckles.
In the lush Las Meleguinas ravine, very close to Domaine du Marquis, a beautiful ethnographic reenactment takes place. Locals gather around the old stone washbasins to relive the work of the historic washerwomen of the last century. A journey back in time surrounded by nature.
