The Domaine du Marquis environment treasures a truly unique historical and ethnographic heritage. From its elevated position, the enclave offers panoramic views that encompass ravines, crops and traditional farmhouses, where the Rural architecture of volcanic tuff merges with the landscape. On the slopes of the Las Goteras ravine, there are also emblematic cave houses, many of them still linked to ancient traditions, such as the use of stone ovens.

The artisanal heritage is still very much alive in La Atalaya, especially in its historic Locera tradition, a pottery of aboriginal origin that has lasted to this day. In fact, this is one of the few areas in Europe where cooking is still done in earthenware and traditional bowls are used to roast millo or coffee. A visit to the Locero Center in La Atalaya is a fascinating cultural experience for those who want to get up close and personal with this unique legacy.

The artisanal and agricultural heritage is still present

The history of the place is also marked by its strategic role in pre-Hispanic times. Thanks to its altitude and its natural caves, it was one of the shelters of the aboriginal population during the invasions, and Scenario of historical episodes which still survive in local memory, such as the events linked to the area of the English Cross, related to old clashes with the pirate Van der Does.

Saint Bridget, also known as the Villa de las Flores, adds a special charm to the visit. Patios and facades are traditionally filled with daylilies, carnations, hydrangeas and ferns, creating patterns full of color and freshness. This floral passion is celebrated every month of June with Florabrígida, a fair dedicated to flowers that fills the town with colors, smells, exhibitions, exhibitions and festive atmosphere.
